Forum:
Because Rick Warren was invited
to deliver the inaugural invocation at the presidential ceremony
in Washington D.C. in January, which caused a tidal wave of objections,
the Yurica Report has obtained a copy of the video Warren taped
to urge Californian's to support Proposition 8, and which imposes
Mr. Warren's religious beliefs and prohibitions upon the state.
California Attorney General, Jerry Brown has now filed a brief
in the current lawsuit, stating that Proposition 8, which passed,
is "unconstitutional."

Ken Blackwell, the former controversial Secretary of State of
Ohio, announced that he is seeking to become the new Chairman
of the Republican National Committee. If he succeeds, the GOP
will take a decidedly right turn into the political religion
of the future, which no doubt will include Sarah Palin and Mike
Huckabee. Blackwell, an ardent religious dominionist who presently
works for the radical Family Research Council, and who was the
Vice Chairman of the 2008 Republican National Convention Platform
Committee, has a record of actively seeking to impose his religious
beliefs and doctrines upon citizens of his state. And now,
according to Marc Ambinder, he is even closer to his goal.

presented to Congress was ill-conceived – or more accurately,
not conceived at all. As Congress tried to improve what Treasury
originally requested, an amalgam plan emerged that consisted
of Treasury’s original Troubled Asset Relief Programme (Tarp)
and a quite different capital infusion programme in which the
government invests and stabilises weakened banks and profits
from the economy’s eventual improvement. The capital infusion
approach will cost tax payers less in future years, and may even make money for them.

Reveals: Thousands
of Organizations Exempt from Federal
Income Tax Owe Nearly $1 Billion in
Payroll and Other Taxes
A study by the GAO found that
nearly 55,000 tax exempt organizations had almost $1 billion
in unpaid federal taxes as of September 30, 2006. About 1,500
of these entities each had over $100,000 in federal tax debts
with some owing tens of millions of dollars. Willful failure
to remit payroll taxes is a felony under U.S. tax law.

Amid all the natural and political
disasters
it faces, the White House is certainly tireless
in its effort to legalize torture. This week,
Vice President Dick Cheney proposed a
novel solution for the moral and legal problems
raised by the use of American soldiers to
abuse prisoners and the practice of turning
captives over to governments willing to act
as proxies in doing the torturing. Mr. Cheney
wants to make it legal for the Central Intelligence
Agency to do this wet work.
